THANK YOU and What's Next!

I write to you with a heart full of gratitude as I share the news that I'm retiring as a chocolatier and will close the Twenty Degrees Chocolates boutique on Saturday, July 23.

As you may know, my husband Mark and I opened Petit Philippe in 2010 and launched Twenty Degrees Chocolates as our wine shop's in-house chocolatier. Since then, we've expanded our businesses to include La Cave wine storage and the Twenty Degrees Chocolates boutique in South End.

Most recently we bought a commercial building at 4001 Park Road. As we've planned for the upcoming expansion at Park Road, we spent a lot of time reflecting on our personal and professional lives. That careful reflection gave rise to this decision.

My retirement makes sense for many reasons, but the most important one is that I will be able to spend more time with our sons. We launched our businesses when the boys were just 1 and 3; all they've ever known is the roller-coaster ride of seasonal intensity that is the business of food and wine. As they enter 8th and 10th grades, I know in my bones that I want and need to be more enmeshed in their everyday lives.Put simply, the intense demands of a multi-business, dual-entrepreneur household are not sustainable for our family. Compounding matters, I've experienced worsening work-related physical difficulties in recent months, which have accelerated our decision.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to do what I love and to have been so warmly received by the Charlotte community and well beyond. I'm so thankful for our loyal customers, my incredibly dedicated and talented team, and my relentlessly supportive family. I'm proud of what we built and feel we're closing the chocolate chapter on a creative high note. That's a great feeling.

And as the saying goes, when one door closes another one opens! With that, we're also excited to announce we will open a satellite of Petit Philippe in the South End location. We'll offer the same European and West Coast-focused selection of wines from smaller producers, along with special flights and wines by the glass. More details on the wine expansion into our South End space will be forthcoming.

The chocolate boutique will maintain its regular hours of operation through Saturday, July 23, and we will take online orders through July 30. Stock up now! Chocolate sales will continue at the Selwyn Avenue location of Petit Philippe while supplies last. You can also check Facebook or Instagram for the latest information. This is not goodbye! I will support Mark at Petit Philippe in various operational functions as we embark on our expansion. I look forward to this new chapter and thank you for being a part of my chocolate journey. With deepest gratitude,Casey
